Is facial waxing right for me?

While facial waxing is great for most people, some individuals are not suitable for these treatments. Please read the following contraindications carefully, to evaluate if you are an eligible candidate, as they apply to facial waxing:

Contraindications include, but are not limited to the following:

Allergy reaction to the patch test
Waxing cannot be performed if you have had laser skin resurfacing or if you have had a physician administered peel within the past year.
Accutane-you must wait at least one year before considering waxing.
Sunburn
Cold Sores
Psoriasis/Eczema
Skin Disorders, Skin Trauma, Cuts, Abrasions, Burns, and Swelling in the immediate area.
Scar Tissue
Hypersensitive Skin
Cancer or those undergoing Chemotherapy/Radiation
Recent permanent make up (must be healed by 6-8 weeks)

Requires a Doctor's Clearance/Note:

Blood thinning medications/blood conditions
Recent surgeries around the eyes, head, or face.
Post-Chemotherapy/Radiation
Vitamins/Hormones

*Individuals that have any uncertainty regarding their pre-existing conditions, or are under the supervision of a physician, please consult with your doctor before booking an appointment and provide us with a doctor's note.

How to Prepare

If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you must wait at least one year before considering waxing.
If you have been tanning within the 48 hours of your appointment, or have any sunburn, wax cannot be performed.
If you are using an over-the-counter product that has retinol or a high glycolic acid content you should stop using the products for at least 1 week before waxing.
No facial scrubs, take home micro-dermabrasion, glycolic peels, other peels, exfoliation or tanning at least 72 hours prior.
If you are using prescription Vitamin A medication, such as Differen, Renova, or Retin-A micro, you should not get waxed until you have been off of these for at least 3 weeks. Please consult with your physician/dermatologist first.

Aftercare Instructions

No chemical peels, tanning, swimming/spas/hot tubs for 72 hours after waxing. If you must be outside, apply an oil-free sunscreen.
Avoid hot showers or baths for at least 24 hours.
Avoid applying makeup in the treated area for at least 24 hours.

NOTE: Slight irritation, sensitivity, and redness can be common after waxing. If you experience any stinging or swelling after 24 hours, apply a cold compress to soothe and seek medical advice. Please notify Unveiled Beauty Studio of any adverse reactions.
